Post: We’ve Made our Way to Florence

We felt like we deserved this! Our train trip from La Spezia to Firenze felt long, although it was actually really smooth.

Everyone seems to be on the move today. There are suitcases everwhere. This meant that we had to stand from Pisa to Firenze with our luggage and that got old.

A wizen driver met us at the station and drove us to our hotel. This was extremely helpful. Although Florence is a walkable city, there are so many people out on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.

We went looking for this gelato within moments of unpacking. We remember if from last year when we were practically the only customers. Today, throngs wer waiting. It is an exceptionally creamy gelato and the flavors are good. I had orange chocolate and coffee mousse.

Mark had their unique specialty, which so many in the crowd had chosen: pistachio affogatto. Customers just strolled into the small piazza with their ceramic cups, and returned them when finished.

Florence sparkles today! It was so much less crowded last year when we visited in early November. The weekend might have something to do with the crowds. Maybe we’ll have the sparkle and a bit more room as the work week begins.
