Biennale!

Italy

It’s a Venice Bienniale year– what may be the world’s foremost contemporary art exhibit, from May to November in even years. I’d see many news articled and reviews about it but never thought about going. But here we are in Venice, and we spent the day at the Biennale.

This means I am utterly exhausted. We had a tour guide for the morning at the Giardini site. We were on our own in the afternoon at the Arsenale site. We did not see it all; that could take a minimum of three days. We both were extremely impressed, so much so, that I could see coming back to Venice during the next Biennale.

Unfortunately, I am too tired to describe much, and it would take extra research to do any descriptions justice. But, here is a gallery of some photos:

Of all the national pavilions we saw, India was my favorite, especially the piece that was a lace and shadow house.

Today was not considered a busy day at the Biennale, and there were many school groups. After more that six hours of looking at the installations, were were ready to walk home under a beautiful sunset:

It’s our last night in Venice and the city sure did put out an invitation to return!
