We were on the move today, from Western Iceland into the capital, for some shopping. The goals were: some wool yarn, maybe some wool products, and checking out cool outdoor clothing at 66 North and Icewear.
Since we were here last (2019), a street has been painted with the rainbow. It is even marked on the maps as “Rainbow Street.” When we came to it, we heard a mariachi band and there was a festive crowd. And of course, far too many people for me to get the shot I wanted— the rainbow street with the cathedral at the far end. Everyone wanted that shot!
So, I couldn’t wait for everyone to move. When I was reviewing, though, the clouds and sky put me in awe, and there you have it. You can’t take a bad (or at least not really bad) picture in Iceland.
Rainbows on the street are common here.
We are now at an airport hotel in Keflavik waiting to meet the group from Colorado College and other organizations who we will be heading with, to Greenland. We have a city tour of Reykjavik tomorrow, and go to sea tomorrow night.
A little while after I took that first street photo, we were snacking on crepes nearby and the mariachi band was on break. So, everyone had dissipated a bit:

Love your photos.
Thank you!
“You can’t take a bad picture in Iceland” is now my official phrase/comment/contribution whenever I find myself in a conversation about Iceland! THANK YOU Laura, reading and looking at your blog counts as my due diligence.
I’m so glad! You and your fine camera would be busy here.
